What is War At Sea that is is worth a whole section of your website?

War at Sea is a turn based 1:1800 scale Naval Miniatures war game fought betweein individual units which largely existed in the era of the Second World War.

The manufacturer quit producing units and stat cards for the game several years ago but it lives on.  The ships maintain a high value on E-Bay and various individuals produce original and replica sculpts via 3D printing services like Shapeways.  Axis&AlliesForumini is the official entity in charge of world ranking, rules clarifications and new units.

What do I need to play War at Sea?

-Stat Cards.  These are available for free on this website, on the Forumini or several other reputable sites.  Print them if you like, load them in tabs on your browser, whatever works.

-Mini's.  Scraps of paper with ship names written on them will do at first for a trial.  Once you're hooked on the plastic crack you can fill out your fleets via Shapeways, Ebay, trades, or even 2D printed ships via http://topsideminis.com.

-A mapping system.  The factory maps had square sectors measuring a couple inches across.  Hex Maps work fine.  The Forumini supports play by forum where with a bit of MS Paint skills you can replicate a map.  The Vassal Module in development here is a virtual tabletop you can play on.  It is probably the quickest free way to play online.  It does require you to download the Vassal engine and the module as well as having a personal computer.
